The retreat is designed for contributing members of afikra’s community, volunteers, and podcast guests to build connections and strengthen afikra’s work across borders and disciplines.

This extraordinary five-day retreat promises an immersive experience into Lebanon's rich heritage, vibrant culture, and the intellectual exploration that afikra fosters. A Trip Back in Time

Immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring beauty of Mount Lebanon, while enjoying breathtaking views from the La Martine Valley. Traverse the mystical roads of Sawfar and absorb the allure of Lebanon's past.

FAQ

  • Registration is open until Friday, April 12, 2024. A fee of $150 is due by this date.

  • The total price for the retreat is $1500 per person. Payments are divided as follows:

    Payment 1: $150 due by Friday, April 12, 2024 (non-refundable)

    Payment 2: $1350 due by Friday, May 3, 2024 (two weeks prior to the retreat)

    • 5-day excursions around Lebanon, including transportation from the meet-up point mentioned in the itinerary

    • Daily transfers from the meet-up point

    • Entrance tickets to all activities and museums

    • Workshop fees and materials

    • Breakfast and lunch throughout the journey

    • Celebration dinner on final day

    • Accommodation in Lebanon

    • Air travel to and from Lebanon

    • Visa fees

    • Travel insurance

    • Health insurance

    • Dinners (if not part of itinerary)

    • Optional activities after hours

    • Personal expenses

    • Personal liability

  • Cancellation before May 6, 2024: 50% refund ($750)

    Cancellations due to Force Majeure in case the event is canceled entirely by afikra: Participants will be entitled to a full refund of Payment 2 ($1350) in case of severe and uncontrollable circumstances such as war, airport closure, natural disasters, or full lockdown preventing the group from attending.

  • 18-99 years!

  • Accommodations are not included in the registration fee. However, if you need recommendations on where to stay, please reach out to us, and we will provide you with a list of suggestions within your budget.

  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily throughout the five days. Additionally, dinner will be included on the final day of the retreat. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated upon request.

  • Transportation will be provided to and from the daily meet up point.

  • In addition to the scheduled activities and workshops, participants will have the opportunity to join optional meet-ups at various bars or restaurants around Beirut. These optional outings provide a relaxed and social setting for further exploration and connection with fellow attendees.

  • For your stay in Lebanon in May, we recommend packing comfortable, breathable clothing suitable for warm days and cooler evenings. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and sturdy walking shoes for outdoor activities. A light jacket or sweater may also come in handy for cooler evenings.
